Recently Nikhil Sharma, managing director for Eurasia at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts said that the chain was actively considering tailoring its services for younger guests in India.
“We have transformed our amenities and services to cater to the evolving preferences of younger guests such as introducing more flexible co-working spaces. Our culinary experiences feature more health conscious and local cuisine options," he added.
This begs the question:
Why are hotels making way for coworking spaces?
“The average age of the customer has reduced by a decade in the past five to ten years” said Rajeev Kale, president and country head for Holidays, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) and Visa at Thomas Cook (India).

Through such partnerships, co-working spaces can leverage an existing nationwide network of centrally located workspaces and hotel chains can look forward to a constant stream of regular customers.
From a coworking space view point, the decision taken by hotels to form coworking spaces is a boon.
However, if the hotels wish to establish an entirely new space as coworking rather than tie-ups with existing coworking spaces, that works fine too.
