On this day, people celebrate by worshipping their books of accounts by conducting a puja for the same, locally termed “Chopda Puja” where Chopda represents books holding all accounting and financial transactions. People are also seen doing puja of their factories, vehicles, machines, and other tools since they help to generate income. Did you know? The word Dhanteras itself is derived from dhan which translates to wealth and teras translates to thirteen, since it falls on the 13th day of the lunar cycle. It is the day of being grateful for all the wealth that a person owns, be it monetary or non-monetary. It is an expression of always taking actions that are ethically just, especially wherever money is involved.
