Usually when people hear the word coworking space, they envision a brown coloured place that’s designed with the thought of balancing work, comfort and play. Let us paint you a tad bit more detailed picture, a cosy and welcoming place that’s got two deep chestnut brown walls, one original brick wall and one huge glass window for the fourth wall. This glass window will be bi-fold for the warmth of the sunlight to touch your skin, exposure to the sun as we know proves useful moderately. For furniture, say there’s a mustard yellow couch covering one wall, a few café-like tables and chairs for those who prefer a casual workstation and a professional office-like desk and chairs for those who prefer a formal workstation. Air conditioning, refrigerator, restrooms and a pantry also form a part of this brown haven.
Debunking a myth about coworking spaces: Part 1
This is a myth we’re debunking today. Not all coworking spaces look like the description above. This is the most common misconception that people have in their minds when they hear “coworking space”. Every coworking space has a uniqueness to them which sets them apart from the rest of their fellow competitors. This USP (Unique Selling Point) which makes them stand out can be anything: friendly service, homely/office-like infrastructure, ergonomic workstations and so on. The location, landmark and locality of the said space also play a huge role. For instance, working from a coworking space on a street in Barcelona will be comparatively much different than a coworking space on a busy road in Mumbai. This doesn't mean two coworking spaces situated in the same city can’t be different.
And so OurDesk situated in Khar, Mumbai is individualistic. Whilst there are a few features of OurDesk that are similar to our competitors like free WIFI, unlimited beverages etc, we’re way too different to even be compared. We successfully debunk the most famous myth of “Being Brown''. Even though we belong to beings of brown, OurDesk is painted white. We believe life’s a canvas for us to splatter paints of our choices of colours on it. That’s our very own thought process behind painting OurDesk white. One of our most influential walls is painted with rainbow colours in between. On top of this the phrase “Follow Your Dream” is inscribed in cursive calligraphy with white paint.
Thus, OurDesk plays along differently in terms of the interior of its space. Choosing White over Brown and standing out unintentionally. We’ll soon be back with another stereotypical myth to debunk in our non-stereotypical way. Until next time!
