A Day in the Life of a Coworker: Exploring Daily Routines-
Being a coworking space ourselves, you must think this blog is biased. Rightly so, we’re disheartened to prove otherwise. That being said, khud apni tareef karne mein alag hi maza hai.
Freelancers:
Freelancers are their own king and creativity, their kingdom. If you ask us, there’s no timetable as such followed by freelancing coworkers to complete their tasks lined-up for the day. They work as and when projects have been assigned to them.
Freelancers are our favorite type of coworkers. They book OurDesk’s flexi-desks when needed, be it for an hour, a day, 4 hours or 6 hours. Every one of these freelancers contribute to lighting up OurDesk, one project at a time, with their vibrant way of working. Some have a systematic approach while some need to be messy in order to get their wheels of imagination moving.
Each member is versatile enough to pick different hours to focus on work for instance, a video-editor will throw in their headphones and blast music and religiously work for two hours straight and all his work would be ready.
Specific departments of a company:
Similarly, if a specific department of a huge corporation has rented a coworking space for its respective staff, they might follow a typical 9-5 shift or a 12-8 shift. This also depends on the terms and conditions between the corporation and their employees.
Most of them dedicatedly work for first-half of the day, aiming to finish maximum tasks before lunch. This is not to say they don’t work after a full belly. Second-half for them is just a bit laid-back. However, some believe in being focused throughout the entire shift.
Some members work better vibing to music being played on speaker in unison. While some ought to speak while working, like random facts or general knowledge questions. These guys are usually up on their toes for anything under the sun. A meeting? Check. An event? Check. A quick call? Check.
A company as a whole:
In some cases coworking spaces are preferred by start-ups or similar business models that have a small or medium staff. This is because coworking spaces operate on a rent basis, no permanent down payment as such is required. This is a major pro that attracts companies, they rent a workspace for their staff without any vast capital being blocked. A day in the life of these coworkers also resonates with 9-5 hours shift or shifts or similar no.of hours.
These members choose to work for a start-up and such other business models because they wish to work, witness and live through the beginning stages of a company’s establishment. They believe there’s more to learn at a start-up than an already renowned organisation.
And so, each day in their life is learning a unique life-lesson. Work hours for them are just as dynamic as their work. These guys work hard and smart both, given their passion for choosing to work at a start-up platform.

At the end of the day, each coworker’s work life is as joyful as ever. Working individually is fun but when various types of coworkers work together, it’s merry like Christmas. Networking being the root and community being the branches.
